This lens is on my camera most of the time. It is small, bright and has a very workable range

So far so good. Budget collapsable kit lens beautifully designed. Quality of images as expected and in line with another regular m. Zuiko 14-42 that I own. It takes some time to get used to power zoom though. The compact size is definitely a winner. I use it on OM-D EM-5 Mark II.

Received this lens in the mail today. I’ve been borrowing a 7-14 mm LUMIX vary from my professor until now. Tried to find the closest thing to it, but for the lowest price, and this was my best option. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised so far! First of all, at f 3.5 the focus is so soft and hazy that it’s almost dream-like, which has really enhanced my nature photography, which you’ll see in the following photos. And since it’s a pancake lens, it’s perfect for up-close portraits. I can’t wait to find some people to model for me. The focus can be really organic if used the right way, sort of reminds me of film photography. So yeah…dreamy and soft, I love it. I’m not sure if it’s best for low light conditions, but I’ve only used it for 4 hours so that could change once I get used to it. I’m interested to see how it holds up once I start shooting video with it, which is what I bought it for (I’m a videographer). I have a shoot tomorrow, so I’ll try to update once I’m done. But yeah, it’s great. Compact size is really handy. And honestly I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the digital zoom, but it’s kind of convenient, especially since I shoot a lot of behind-the-scenes footage of fast-working photographers. I imagine it’ll be a plus. The lens cap is obviously very small and easy to lose, but other than that, I don’t have anything bad to say! I think it’s important to mention that I bought this lens with my own money and on my own decision. Overall, it’s amazing. You won’t regret it.

I’ve been looking for this lens everywhere in silver and all photography-based retail stores are always back-ordered for some reason. The price is comparable to what’s available on Olympus and Henry’s, and I got it in a day! Very happy with it, and have been using it every time. This is the starter lens you need for your E-M line of Olympus mirrorless cameras.

The automatic lens cap jammed up as soon as I turned the camera on. Not sure if this was a fault with the lens or a general incompatibility with Panasonic cameras. I returned it without any problem, so thanks ClickElectronics for sorting it out.

The internal copper connecting ribbon snapped.Cost t o repair about double the price of a new lens, so I bought another!Apart from that, it is very light and compact, making the EM10/2 pocketable.Good picture quality, and wide 28 to 84 equivalent, makes it a useful walk-around unit. The manufacturer needs to make it more durable in my humble opinion!

I now have several of these lenses, complete with the auto lens caps, as the standard lens on several bodies. The cameras are set to Program, single centre point focus and basically straightforward point and shoot. This allows almost instant shooting availability. If there is time I can be more selective in lens used etc., but this way missed shots are rare, especially in street shooting. Not all the lenses were bought new for obvious reasons.Great with a Pen-F, but also works well on any camera with a flip up screen, shooting at waist level, no need to spend time raising it to eye level.Pictured lens on a trusty E-PL7 with screen set for waist level shooting, totally non-threatening compared to an E-M1 with Pro lens! Also easier to get pics of grandchildren/pets at their eye level. Sorry it is a silver one, but I do have black¬

I am a recent convert to a CSC camera coming from a semi-pro DSLR. This is a great little lens for travel which was my primary purpose for it. I have an OM-D E-M1 with a 12-40 f2.8 Pro lens on most of the time which is just a bit big for snapping on days out. As a comparison to the 12-40 f2.8 this lens is relatively soft focus-wise and lacks some contrast, especially indoors. Outside, in good light the difference is narrower and image quality is well in excess of any compact I have ever used. That is not surprising though as the two lenses are very different animals but I mention it for those considering these two lens options – if critical sharpness and high contrast are what you want so you can produce pro quality photos worthy of a magazine then this is not the lens for you. If your significant other complains that your camera is too big to lug about or you are looking for something to travel light with and you share your photos with friends (who are not pro photographers) and print an odd one off for the wall then it is a great choice. On an E-M1 the lens sticks out just a couple of millimetres further than the grip on the camera making it only a little bigger than a compact but with the ability to take photos you could happily use in high quality photobooks or to hang on your walls. Again that is something I have never managed happily from a compact but the results are pretty comparable to a DSLR with standard kit lens.

I was using the M.Zuiko 14-42 kit lens, but this is most certainly a big step up in image quality. The lens feels a bit cheap but in use is sturdy. Limited aperture means it struggles in low light. There are a few usability niggles but it is such a step up in image quality and step down in physical size that it is recommended for Enthusiastic photographers who understand how to set a camera in different circumstances to get over the lens’ limitations. Highly recommended for street photographers using OMD cameras.ProsImage Quality: Over the kit lens it has greater detail and less lens distortions and colour is far more natural; but also vibrant.Size: Being a pancake lens it means that an OMD camera fits in a big pocket.Well Made: Although it feels a bit cheap it is in fact a sturdy everyday lens.Focus ring is fairly smooth and easy to get fine control.Retains fast auto focus.Very light to carry as a second lens.ConsAperture limitations mean that ISO 800+ or clever use of lighting and framing is required for anything but bright conditions. Basically to get the best out of this lens requires a thorough understanding of exposure and lighting techniques.Motorised zoom is smooth and fast but it does mean that precise zoom is limited. No protective bag supplied.
