This lens is simply AWESOME and has quickly become my walk around lens. I barely use another lens anymore except for night photography. I really love the versatility when I’m shooting during my outdoor excursions landscapes but also wildlife or birds in flight. Being able to switch within seconds between those situations without changing the lens is extremely satisfying for me. Just turn the barrel.The image quality is great, at least for my eyes and use. But I’m not a professional photographer, more a passionate hobbyist. I”ll add some pictures, so you can judge for yourself.Another great feature worth mentioning is the moisture resistance and the lens hood which is included. You can even screw your filters on and use the lens hood anyway.I can highly recommend this lens and would buy again in a heartbeat.

I bought this lens and found it to be excellent…until it dropped once from approx 3 ft height, with lens cap on, onto a ceramic floor. The front lens cracked. Fortunately, the lens works for pictures and the crack is not the focal length. I had bought lens from ClickElectronics.ca, had the receipt and serial number. I reached out to Tamron Canada and was interested in having it repaired, and was told ClickElectronics is NOT an authorized Tamron Canada retailer, that my lens was “grey market”, and therefore they would not repair it. I was told to contact ClickElectronics about returning or repairing it, but I am outside of a return window. I would definitely recommend buying this lens, but not from ClickElectronics, as there is no customer support from Tamron Canada, even with serial number and proof of purchase.

I bought this lens for a safari. I really enjoy the fact i could take wide landscape pictures and close shots (the 400mm mode felt good) without having to change lens – sometimes you have to be quick and ready when you spot an animal! The picture quality was great. The price was good. Lenses with the same mm range are usually much more expensive! I didnt feel the resistance when zooming in/out was an issue.

I have only had this lens for a couple of days but so far I am very impressed with the flexibility. I like to shoot a lot of wildlife and specifically bald eagles and other raptors that often fly by our house. This lens seems to focus quickly as needed for catching the raptors in flight. Time will tell but so far I am impressed even if it is a bit on the heavy side. I am replacing an older 28-300mm Tamron lens which I have had for many years and was pretty much the only lens I ever used on my old DSLR.Purchase Note:I made a point to specifically buy the lens from ClickElectronics.ca, as opposed to a third party fulfilled by ClickElectronics on other comments I read. The first lens that arrived was the wrong mount type. It was clearly used as well. It was a Nikon mount that had been put into the appropriate Canon box but there was no rear lens cap and there was a scuffed up ClickElectronics Basics UV filter on the lens. It also did not seem to have quite the same weight as the replacement lens. Anyway, I did a return through ClickElectronics (which was simple and fast other than taking it back to the Post Office for return shipping) and pointed out these things. They quickly sent out a new one which does seem to be authentic. Tamron Canada allowed me to register it for warranty so …

took the plunge and not regretting, great lens. Everything about it is perfect; lens caps, buttons, build. Pics are super sharp and with only a 5Ti I’m thrilled; walk around the house I haven’t taken it off for 4 days now.
