Bought one of these little gizmos when I purchased my Sigma 14mm, f1.8, which was handy as I discovered the lens already needed a minor software update when it arrived.Fairly straightforward to use in conjunction with the free software (Sigma Optimization Pro), which is downloaded from the Sigma website. You simply attach the dock to the rear of the lens as you would the rear lens cap and connect it to your computer via the supplied USB lead. Then follow the online instructions. Simples!…A word of caution: The dock is NOT compatible with all (older?) Sigma lenses, so check compatibility on the Sigma website before you buy.

Using this on a Sigma 150-600 sport. No software provided – has to be downloaded from Sigma’s site (best way in my opinion for any new piece of software or drivers), but easy to download & install. Software for this is basic but usable (automatically checks for firmware updates for both dock & attached lens when lens connected) – hopefully new features will be added over time, software also provides information not provided on lens box or lens (needed the serial number for this lens for my camera insurance – nothing on box or lens, but showed up on the home page of the software). Device itself has a plastic (yet robust) feel to it, provided cable is reasonable length (have been able to use this on my desk without the need for an extension cable or replacing the cable with a longer 1 (unlike some other peripherals I have) and has a solid feel when connecting the lens. Overall a good addition if you have a compatible lens.

having been bitten by having a very nice Sigma 400mm prime that wouldn’t work with later Canon cameras, I bought this so that the firmware can be updated on my 100-400 sometime in the future if necessary. It also lets you customise the the focus speed and accuracy (which is a trade-off between the two, but actually makes little noticeable difference) and save it as one of two custom settings; you can also calibrate the focus, though I haven’t found this needs doing – it is, I feel, one of those things which people think is necessary much more than it is in reality. So, it’s a nice thing to have, but by no means necessary.

You need to download the software from Sigma’s website first. Configuring the settings are easy, I’ve heard people make a change, write to the camera then disconnect and reconnect for a another? This want the case for me, I was able to change all parameters of C1 switch, write the changes, disconnect/reconnect then do the same for C2. I didn’t have to do it for each setting. The above mentioned are really easy settings to change, but there is a section for geeks that I have no desire to delve into.Bought this to use with my Sigma 150-600mm C.

The Sigma USB Dock Mount for Nikon Lens is an interesting widget for sure! On one hand, you have to ask yourself is it really required? On the other hand, it’s an absolute god send and why hasn’t the big players like Canon and Nikon joined the band wagon?I do not use the Sigma USB Dock Mount to fine tune my camera / lens combo; I use another program for this. I do however use the Sigma USB Dock Mount to dial in my lenses to suit my specific requirements. And that, is one of the reasons I like Sigma lens so much. I could use the Nikon range like everybody else, but Nikon lenses are not programable. And there in lies my problem. My advice, do your homework and decide if the dock meets your requirements. If you are looking to fine tune your Sigma lens’ there are other options available. If you are looking to lock them into how you shoot, the dock is the go to widget.Personally, I wouldn’t be without mine.

Bought the sigma 150mm – 600mm and nearly sent it back because the AF was so slow.Bought this and updated the firmware instead, made all the difference in the world.Pictures alot sharper and AF alot faster.Very easy to use.Plug it in, click a few buttons.
