Extremely pleased with the image quality and is excellent value for money compared with the Canon EF equivalent. Calibrated the lens with my 5D Mkiv using FoCal where there was a 99.5% consistency of focus and front/back focus setting of 0.

Best purchase I made! I didn’t realise how much I’d need/use this but it upped my game and on top of that it’s just so much fun to play with on top. I take it everywhere (it’s quite heavy so that’s a pain, but I guess my shoulders are quite muscley now thanks!) there is quite some distortion even on the 24mm which is totally up to the buyers interest, I have another 24mm lens so this doesn’t bother me so much and was more interested in the wider aspects and also quite like the distortion in some fields of work.

Great Sigma construction with good size controls for zoom and focus. The petal hood protects the bulbous front lens.Image quality…Great even exceptional. Very minimal distortion for such a wide lens, sharp images and good colour rendition. The Canon EF equivalent, I would say, has a slightly better image quality but minor unless zooming into the image, based on cost, Image quality and my usage I opted for the Sigma and I have not been disappointed.I want to get into a bit of astrophotography and this lens is going to be great. In Short: Great Prime lens, great image quality, minimal distortion, acceptable price.

So, the lens has only arrived yesterday but I’ve tinkered with it. I’ve only taken a few pictures with this lens but the image quality is seriously good. Silent AF and ability to MF. Some distortion on close up (field curvature distortion) but nothing that Photoshop can’t fix. Very sturdy built piece of kit with a large bulbous lens with petal shaped hood. It is very heavy and even more so with the Canon 5D Mark III attached (may need a camera vest to support if needing to use it quickly). Works beautifully with my Canon. What sets this apart from Samyang lens is the weather sealant. I am visiting Tromso soon to try and capture NL and try out Astrophotography. Will update and post images once I’mback.

    perfektes Ultraweitwinkel-Zoom

  10. PREVEL

Colours and sharpness are excellent, but very prone to lens flare, even if the sun or some other light source are way out of the shot. I was considering returning it, but decided I can live with the flare.
