  1. Nameless

Arguably the best wide angle zoom lens ever made

  2. C. Webster

the best lens I have for my landscapes

  3. vanezzi

Excellent but find yourself a good one

  4. Smoot

What a lens, very clear, I have used it with my D700 and D3x and proved to be a superb lens. On the negative side, it is a bit heavy and you cannot fit a filter to it, but I am very pleased with it.

  6. Nacnu

This lens is so sharp & durable. It will be with me until something better comes on the market!

  7. Alejandro Balderas

A high quality lens that takes a little time to get to know but once you do the images it can produce are fantastic.

Along with the other two remaining ‘holy trinity’ of Nikon Lenses (AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm and AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm), this lens does not disappoint! This particular lens is my favourite out of the three (which is saying something) and produces crystal clear, sharp and beautifully bright rendered images with each shot. Attached to my Nikon D800, there are many more ‘keepers’ after shooting with this amazing lens!Indoor and interior shooting with this lens as an absolute joy, as is landscape and architectural photography. However, these fine optics from Nikon come at a price (a fairly hefty one at that for a wide angle lens) and there are some minor niggles; it’s heavy and the protruding parobolic curve and size of the front lens means you cannot use screw on filters of any kind, including a protective UV filter so be very, very careful using this lens when you’re out and about. As others have mentioned, there is no vignetting and negligible barrel distortion. It is quite possibly Nikon’s best produced lens and I am one very proud and happy owner.Expensive? Sure!Indispensable – definitely.Forget all other wide angles – this is the one!Thoroughly recommended.

I thought I could rely on the good name of Nikon. I bought this for taking milkyway photos. When I checked it for sharpness I was disappointed .Not only the edges were not sharp, but also bigger areas .Seems like it is pot luck if you get a good lense or a bad one , the manufacturing tolerances are very big. Why do I buy a lense F2.8 and pay good money for it when I can’t use it at F 2.8 ?

This is the best lens that Nikon have made and the best lens I have for my landscapes, and I have a few. it does deliver stunning sharpness. The lens is primarily targeting the professional market and thus the build quality is accordingly high. the focus ring operates exceptionally smooth, at around 1kg it is the most heavy ultra-wide angle zoom lens around. the AF operations are fast and basically silent. it is a must for any landscape photographer
