A real disappointment to me. I have a Canon 5D Mk3, which is a brilliant DSLR, and an ageing Ixus which I used as a Happy Snappy when I didn’t want the size and weight of the DSLR. I thought the G7X would give me the benefits of a DSLR in a much smaller package. In practice I find it really difficult to see the little screen, especially in bright sunlight, so it is extremely difficult to see the settings — which are anyway extremely fiddly. Also this camera is very ‘modern’, designed to take Selfies and focus on faces, which means in landscape shots it focuses on rocks and blurs the rest. Gradually I have switched off all the special features, and downgraded it to a Happy Snappy, which it does pretty well and with tolerable picture quality. However I could have bought an SX620 for less than half the price, about half the size and weight, and with a FAR bigger telephoto. In my case I think that would have suited me much better.

Those drawbacks are that the Camera only lasts around an hour. It can go 16 minutes and then stops recording, does this three times, then lasts another 12-13 minutes and the battery dies, so it’s probably not ideal if you like recording for long periods. However, as long as you have spare batteries, it’s perfect for things like vlogging. It records 1080p at 50 or 60 frames per second which is brilliant quality. The other drawback is that the autofocus is quite bad at times. It struggles to focus on things sometimes and sometimes also loses focus while recording. Sometimes you have to stop recording just so it focuses and record again.Still a great camera though, if you want to see what footage is like, visit my Youtube Channel Davidoff Productions, I record everything on there from this camera, you are better off looking at my vlogs playlist to see how good the quality is

Bought it and don’t regret it for a second. Want to start vlogging but I am stuck at only taking pictures with it as it is sooooo good. Want it??BUY IT!!I did the research before buying it and it looks even better than that. Glad I chose it!

Great little camera – more weighty and solid than the …

Absolutely amazing camera! I’m not the most experienced but the quality of the videos which is what I’m using it for, is spectacular. The only downside is when it arrived, I couldn’t get it working as it didn’t come with a standard memory card so I had to wait a few days to use it. For a £500 camera, I personally think a memory card could be included but overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.

I brought this camera for vlogging and it doesn’t disappoint. Picture quality is superb and the camera itself feels solid and durable. If there was one downside it would be the lack of a external mic port, but to be fair the inbuilt mic is more than adequate for most video recordings. Would definately recommend this.
