So after searching for the best possible headphones with a bunch of fails I settled on these for two main reasons.1. The fit. These are very comfortable for me… no fatigue. Sit on your ear canal rather than inside so not only are they more comfortable but no deep body thuds when walking and such. Which I can’t stand with such headphones as the Xm3s. They are also very secure and great for sports… never get loose or come out. The draw back to their style of fit is there is not much noise cancellation. But that is a trade off I was more than willing to make as the fit and comfort and sports wearability is a must! That includes the size of them. I wouldn’t like anything much bigger or more pokey out.2. This is the best sound I’ve found whilst fitting the fit criteria. It’s an enjoyable warm, smooth sound with good clarity. Depending on your taste… very different to the xm3s which sound amazing with a wider soundstage and brighter presence. But these are arguably better for some genres like rock as they sound is a bit more punchy.End of the day… it does what it says on the tin. Deliver Bose sound for sports comfortably.

Awful fit, they give a guide on how to fit but as soon as I start to jog they fall out.. the jabra 75T fit much better…Also. The touch controls seem to have NO volume control, and NO listen through option??? Even basic earphones have these…I was really looking forward to the product but it seems like a flop.

**UPDATE** Headphones now allow you to change the volume by using a swipe up and down gesture – much welcomed! – Original review below, hope this update helps you make a better decision. These headphones look fantastic and the fit is very comfortable (in line with prior Bose in-ear headphones). They are lightweight and offer touch controls and are truly wireless. Sound quality is also good, but I can’t seem to figure out how to adjust the EQ to make them extra bass heavy (but nevertheless the bass is good). One thing to get used to is that you can’t change the volume on the headphones and you have to use your device (phone / watch etc) – would be good if Bose can somehow programme this into the touch command functions. Comes with a USB-C charger and different sized ear tips to help you find the perfect fit. They are priced as a premium product, I would recommend that it is worth buying these to see if they suit you. The Baltic blue colour is very nice and modern. Case is not as small as the airpod ones but it has good build quality and charges quickly. Not noise cancelling, Bose offer the quiet comfort model instead but do cost more than these. Due to the less bulky and light nature of these, they will be good for working out and running.

Update. Bose have added touch volume control via a firmware update. This is done through the right earbud, sliding up increases the volume and unsurprisingly sliding down reduces the volume.I needed a new pair of listeners for use in the gym. Previously I’d always opted for cheap headphones for gym use however the last cheap pair I bought were appalling and were swiftly returned.Having decided to spend some money it was all about deciding which ones to go for. I considered offerings from Sony, Beats, Jabra etc. But I wanted the a pair with the little fins for security but not the over ear loop like the Beats. This discounted many of the options, also What Hifi rated the previous model the Soundsports for security when running and sound quality. Which this in mind I went for the new model with BT 5 and slightly better looks. The fit. They come with small, medium and large ear buds. The medium didn’t work for me and felt uncomfortable after an hour or so. After swapping to the small they fit perfectly and haven’t come close to falling out when running, using the cross trainer, weight lifting or rowing.Noise cancelling. These don’t come with ANC so you can’t really evaluate it. As for noise isolation they let a bit of ambient through which is good for when you’re training.Sound quality. I had high expectations and they have not disappointed. I use Sony WH1000XM3 for when I’m not in the gym and they’re fantastic sound quality these Bose are not far off the Sony with nice deep bass and well rounded mids and treble. In fact I’ve gone for the Bose when at home a couple of time in favour of the Sony.Battery life. They’re performing as expected and with the average training session lasting between an hour to an hour and a half the battery life is fine. The case. Nice high quality plastic, larger than some of the competitors but not an issue when thrown into my gym bag. The usb c charges them quickly and I think 15 min charge gives a few hours of listening if you’re in a rush.Overall I’m really pleased with these and would recommend to anyone after some quality headphones when training.

Before reading the below, please bear in mind I may just have a faulty pair…I’m a huge Bose fan so wanted to love these (and, indeed, there are many things I DO love), but these are very difficult to live with.Pros:Terrific sound. Great detail and base, and much more volume than I expected.Fit is great. I thought at first they were too loose, but the fit is rock solid without feeling as if they are shoved deep into your ear. Even when moving very actively.Awesome experience using them for calls. Microphone is great and call quality very clear – essential in the current environment.Bluetooth connection very reliable (but more about this later!).Cons:The pair I have just will NOT switch off when they go back in the box. The battery for both the buds and the case both depleted completely overnight on two occasions. Detailed examination of the instructions and a reboot couldn’t fix this…The Bluetooth connection simply will not disconnect from my iPhone when put back in the case. The only way to disconnect them proved to be switching off Bluetooth on the iPhone itself, which is obviously not ideal. Again, a reset and study of the instructions did not resolve this. The controls on the earbuds themselves are way too sensitive. On at least two occasions, I accidentally ended two calls by just scratching my ear…These are going back but, as I said, I may just have a faulty pair. If not for the issue around not switching off, there is much to like.

I already own a pair of the Bose SoundSport Free wireless earbuds (Bose’s first attempt at true wireless earbuds) and I was keen to upgrade to the latest model after the generally good reviews I’d read. Overall, they are about half the size and weight of the SoundSport Free and around the same size now as everyone else’s earbuds – the previous SoundSport Free model was criticised for being just too large. The sound is very good from base up to treble, the base has more punch than the SoundSport Free and overall these Sport Earbuds will play at a higher max volume. The comfort is good and for me about the same as the SoundSport Free. Although the small silicone ear lugs look to be the same size as on the SoundSport Free they somehow feel a little tighter in the ear. The touch controls are a major improvement and I love the way you can tap or double-tap on the right earbud to pause/play tracks and answer/reject calls. You can also enable a swipe action volume control on the right earbud but this feature is not great as the volume increments are set too large, they need to be finer and there’s no way I can see of changing that. The charge case is smaller than the previous model and has a sprung lid so that when you push the button on the case the lid automatically springs open. You can pair these earbuds with more than one device at a time although they will only connect to one device at a time – I have mine paired with my phone and my laptop. Overall, I’m very pleased with these and they are a definite improvement over the earlier model with better sound. I’d give this model 5 stars if it were a little cheaper. If you’re a Bose fan and already own the SoundSport Free then you will love these.

Budget earbuds?!? No volume control, bad fit

  8. Smektalla

The sound quality is excellent however they wouldn’t fit/stay in my ears no matter what size or technique tried. Useless for me but if they fit you and stay in they would be great. If the sound wasn’t as good I’d give them zero stars.

    Ok but flawed

Bose appear to be a great hardware but is somewhat let down by their software. There’s no denying the quality of the sound and it’s comfortable to wear.True wireless earbuds have been on the market for a while now, and other manufacturers have implemented touch controls. This isn’t their first foray into wireless earbuds so I don’t understand why they haven’t gotten better at this. They seemed have only focused on reducing the size of the unit from SoundSport Free.I have found the earbuds drain themselves when I tried to use them – earbuds do not switch off when placed in a charging case. Annoying when you want to use them and find them discharged. These earbuds also suffer from lip sync issues that seem to plague Bose devices, there’s a noticeable delay from video/games content. I have not experienced this from Sony bluetooth devices.Pro:- Good sound- ComfortableCons:- Lip sync issues (playback is delayed)- Does not switch off when placed in the case for charging- Switching between bluetooth devices (Phone/Watch/Laptop)- Only IPX4 for a “sport” device?- Expensive given aboveI purchased these primarily for running (with a Garmin), I already own a Sony headset which has great sound quality and no lip-sync issues but are un-suitable for running. For this price point, I’d expect more which hopefully can be fixed with future firmware updates.
