At £225 I really really wanted to like these headphones but I would only have kept them if they had been £25.The sound quality is very good but I couldn’t get past the flaws. The biggest flaw of all is the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC). When you turn them on the ANC comes on at 100%. This was fine in a noisy environment but otherwise, the pressure it produced on my eardrums was unpleasant and intolerable for any length of time. Turning the ANC down helped but the lowest it would go was 70%. However, instead of reducing the “volume” of the ANC further, from about 60% downwards what the headphones seem to do is actively introduce noise from the background. At 0% it sounds like you don’t have anything in your ears at all. This is a great idea but, in practice, the headphones added white noise as well as background noise. At 0% ANC the white noise was always louder than the music that I was listening to. I would rather that Bose had just turned the ANC off at 0%.Other features that killed the radio star for me include:neckband was tight, weighty and hot after a little while;I would have liked the earbuds to stick/click together when not in use rather than just dangle;the earbuds had to fit just right for good sound and good ANC;they were easily disturbed;lack of direct connection option;bluetooth had poor range and could be affected by band position.Good features were:Sound was detailed and even; The microphone was always good on calls even though most professional reviews criticised it for picking up background noise; The noise cancelling in noisy environments was good and robust – especially for low and high frequencies. This model is nearly 3 years old now and it shows. The firmware updates aren’t enough and Bose should have been improving the hardware as well over the last 3 years. It is 2019 and Bose don’t even offer aptX in their Bluetooth headsets. In the end, even if the white noise issue was specific to my particular set, these headphones just aren’t good enough in 2019. I decided that I’m going to wait for someone to come out with a pair of quality in-ear noise cancelling headphones and spend my £225 (or more) on them instead.

It took me a long time to write a review on this product, but ultimately I cannot recommend it.First the positives- Good noise cancelling. Actually surprisingly good for something that is not wrap around ears.- Easy app to use and very easy to set up.Then the negatives…- the neck brace or whatever it is called is solid and bounces around. really annoying and uncomfortable- but the main issue is that sometimes, for no reason whatsoever, the sounds stops while the headset is still connected. You can hear the prompt voice, etc, but not your music or radio or podcast! Brewing the net, I found that this is known issue and that you need to stop using it for a few minutes, charge it a bit and it works again. Really? Try doing that at the beginning of your commute. So all in all, it is a lot of money to spend for something that she days you can’t really use!

Updated October 2019 – nearly 3 years old and still working perfectly with a decent battery life. The only thing I’ve had to do is replace the ear bud things, one started to tear after about 2 years. I was able to order a replacement set for about £6 from the Bose website.I’ve had these since December 2016 and listen up to 9 hours a day while I’m at work. Still working fine. I did at one point have some connection issues to my oneplus 3t when I first had them (and I would have to force pairing) but then the phone got an update, the problem went away and I’ve never had a problem since – it connects first time every time and reconnects quickly every time I wander off then wander back again (frequently throughout the work day). The battery life is really good, I’ve only ran out of battery when I’ve forgotten to put them on charge overnight but I use them all day most days without running out of battery. I’ve had no problems with the rubber coming off as some reviewers have identified, though they can be crappy in the wind if I go for a walk in them.I’ve had better noise cancelling I think from some overear headphones but it’s hard to say as I’ve used them in different environments. These do a good enough job at work of cutting out the computer and background machinery noise and giving me a nice little bubble to concentrate in.The band around my neck makes me look like a bit of a twit, but I don’t imagine I’d get the battery life without it. Mostly I forget it’s there to be honest until I catch myself in the mirror. The only downside is that they get interference when walking in a windy environment.

Excellent headset with almost useless microphone

The noise cancellation in my experience is worse then the wired version (qc20). Also I had to replace the tips on this headphones with the ones from the wired version, as for some reason they become very uncomfortable after about half an hour and literally start hurting. Another annoying issue is that the neckband tends to rotate when walking, probably due to the unven weight distribution. That said I have not experienced any Bluetooth related issues, as some reviews have mentioned, and I love how they sound. So overall I am pretty happy with the purchase even at this price and they are nowadays the most used (abused) headphones for me. Just not perfect yet, hence 4 stars, instead of 5.

I’m a former addict of Bose products, but weaned myself off the QC35’s about a year ago, when I needed in ear-headphones as I found the pressure from over-ear too much, so I bought a Leophile neckband, which offered comparable ANC for 25% the price! Unfortunately the Mic was not great, and I’ve just started a new job that requires me to spend 2-3 a day on calls.. So the search for a replacement began!I tried to avoid Bose QC30’s, as it has a lot of negative reviews, with people complaining about the ANC, quality of sound etc etc… but alas, after trying 4 different headsets, I caved in.. and I’ll say this, the QC30’s are awesome!Honestly, give them a try, you will not be disappointed..

I really dislike these headphones. I tried to research a lot and had used bose before. 1. i really wanted to have complete noise cancelling but these do not do that.I still hear annoyingly people talking and other noises. 2.The neck band isn’t very comfortable. It moves around a lot. It feels very fragile like it will damage easily. 3. The are far to expensive and do not do really much. 4. Bluetooth sometimes loses connection even though the distance is the same. 4. People keep complaining they can’t hear me if I use the headphone to make calls. Overall really not satisfied. I would love to know if the supplier can do a trade and I pay whatever the difference is for something that IS noise cancelling….meaning I do not hear any noise when on the plane or in a restaurant if I wear these headphones and that can be used for conference calls. I am not sure if these are just a faulty headset but would really like to hear from the supplier on this.

All I can say is don’t let the price put you off, the sound quality is unbelievable and they kick out some pretty good bass too.As you would expect for paying this sort of money they come presented in a good quality box. Inside are the earphones, charging cable, various size ear buds (small, large, medium is already fitted) and a very sturdy case.In the past I’ve stuck to £50 on earphones, but as we’re in the digital age the good old 3.5mm jack is slowly disappearing and wireless is stepping in its place! The range on these is alright being able to wander around the house quite comfortably but this will be dependant on your device.Noise cancellation is pretty decent considering they are earphones and not headphones, having the ability to adjust the level of cancellation which allows you to hear the outside world still.By the looks of it Bose release regular updates for the firmware meaning you won’t be left with any annoying bugs! (Providing you have the Bose app on your phone)The only issue (very small one indeed) is like other people have said, the neck band has a tendency to rotate causing a little strain on the earphones themselves.Overall I am certainly impressed with the performance of these earphones if you enjoy your music these are defiantly worth the extra cash.
